How do I prepare for registration?
First and foremost, plan ahead. We encourage you to meet with your academic advisor prior to advance registration to discuss long-term planning options.
Next, register on time. It is important to know when your registration time is and that you take care of any delinquencies before registration begins.
Check the Academic Calendar for Advance Registration dates and login to the iCampus portal for your registration date and time.
When do I register?
Advance Registration generally begins mid-semester; however, students are assigned a specific registration date and time. Registration dates are based upon the number of credit hours completed as well as involvement in Athletics, the University Honors Program, or other factors. If you have taken courses at another college or university, please send an official copy of your transcripts to Evaluation Services as soon as your grades are posted. This will ensure that your registration date and time reflects the number of credits that you have earned.
Assigned registration dates and times are sent to students through the iCampus portal. If you did not receive notification, please contact the Registrar Service Center, and they will be happy to assist you.
What are my options for registering?
To register at Illinois State University students use the campus portal, iCampus. The iCampus portal is a one-stop location for all your campus information needs. By logging in with your ULID and password, you can access your class schedule, grades, textbook listings, University e-mail, financial aid information, Redbird Card balances, program change information, Blackboard, and the online course registration directory and registration system.
Two useful tools which aid in the registration process are Course Finder and Course Offerings. Course Finder is a web-based Google search which allows you to find courses by course number, course title, semester, department, time of the day, day of the week, professor, building, and general education or IAI.
Course Offerings is located under the Academics tab in your iCampus account. This tool allows you to search courses by department, general education, IAI, and additional categories such as Global Studies. This function will also show you all of the sections that are offered for the semester as well as the number of seats that remain in each section.
How do I register for business courses if I am not a declared Business major/minor?
If you are a Business Administration minor or a non-Business major, you are restricted to registering for non-major sections of business courses. The option for overrides will be given to non-majors if you are registering during the last semester you will be attending ISU.
Near the end of Advance Registration, major blocks may be lifted. Be sure to check your iCampus account periodically to see if there are openings. Contact the College of Business Advisement Center for additional information.
