Mentoring Students of Color

Dr. Steve Taylor, Professor of Marketing, in the College of Business at Illinois State University is the faculty mentor for students of color for the Department of Marketing. He is also available to mentor students of color from other departments within the College of Business.

What is a faculty mentor?

A mentor's role is to be available as a resource for students who have questions, or otherwise wish to discuss, their experiences at Illinois State. Students of color face many unique sociocultural challenges associated with completing their college education. Dr. Taylor's mission is to do whatever he can to ensure that every student of color who comes to Illinois State, and the College of Business in particular, graduates with their degree.

How do you initiate the process of faculty mentorship? It's really quite simple. All you have to do is contact Dr. Taylor and schedule a time to sit down and chat. His contact information is as follows:

  1. Visit Dr. Taylor's Web site for his scheduled office hours
